Historic Texas cattle brands – newly released resource
Historic Texas cattle brands!
We are proud to share this newly released resource of more than 1000 registered cattle brands in Wilson County, beginning from the early 1860s!!
This searchable, extraordinary feat was created by Allen, Regina, and Dimitri KOSUB. We are proud to say Allen is one of our long-time, dedicated Directors of the La Vernia Historical Association.
The Kosubs said, “With the assistance of Wilson County Clerk Eva Martinez, we copied the first Wilson County Brand Book (beginning in 1860). We have rendered the entire 1000+ entries on virtual cowhide panels with the original registration document attached. We have created a separate section https://losttexasroads.com/…/brands/wilson-county-brands/ titled Wilson County Brands on the website. It is searchable on the website – just enter the family surname. Any brand, article or other reference to the family will be identified. The registrations reveal a treasure of original art that some call Texas heraldry – a family coat of arms. Some of the most interesting are the early Mexican/Spanish rancheros.”
The Kosubs have spent thousands of hours researching these Texas cattle brands and reproduced them beautifully on their amazing website, LostTexasRoads.com.
We are thankful for the Kosubs and their tremendous contribution to Wilson County’s history!
Please let us know what YOU find in this treasure of historical records!
