LVHS Students Win with Calculations
The La Vernia Veterans Memorial recently challenged students from Lisa Moltz‘ La Vernia High School Engineering classes to calculate the number of bricks which will be necessary to fill in the star feature of the Memorial The winners were Juan Moreno and Zachary Moczygemba, whose calculations were the closest to the correct number of 1,390. Project Construction Chairman, Kip Workman, said, “Projects like this require a lot of math.” Each of the winners received a gift certificate to the Den. Many of Moltz’s students had spent time at the memorial with their class, learning about the engineering process for the site and helping to mark the layout for the design features. The Memorial, under construction at the La Vernia City Park, is a project of the La Vernia Historical Association, who welcomed the students’ participation. The students, many with family members who are Veterans, expressed deep interest in the project. Learn more about the La Vernia Veterans Memorial at here.
