Please help us complete the La Vernia Veterans Memorial by Veterans Day 2023. Buy Raffle Tickets today and then be with us to draw the winners on Sept. 18 at The Den restaurant in La Vernia. You don’t need to be present to win but the fun evening will include a silent auction, A PROGRAM BY PROFESSIONAL COLD CASE INVESTIGATORS, and a dinner buffet.  the Sept. 18 event tickets are $25. The Raffle and Sept. 18 event tickets can be purchased from an LVHA officer or online.  Deadline to buy event tickets is Sept. 12, 2023.

Walter Scull, Chairman of the LV Veterans Memorial, a project of the La Vernia Historical Association, was featured on the Press Room, a weekly video presentation by the Wilson County News, on May 6, 2023.  Scull answers questions about the project, shares updates and news about La Vernia’s honoring of our Veterans, the history of the project, future plans, the upcoming online auction, the obelisk, and more. Canary Islanders in La Vernia?

The La Vernia Historical Association will host a lecture, “Canary Islanders in La Vernia?” by Anthony Delgado on April 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the La Vernia Church of Christ, 131 Industrial Parkway in La Vernia. The presentation will provide a thumbnail history of the Canary Islanders who were sent in 1730 by King Felipe V to colonize Texas and will explore La Vernia’s Canary Islands connection. Donations will be appreciated for admission to this free event.
